These shocking numbers reveal systematic massacres and confirm that what is happening in Suwayda is not isolated incidents, but a policy of organized violence aiming to break people’s will and impose control by force.

In this context, the silence of the Syrian transitional government is deeply concerning, as it only carries out symbolic actions and avoids its moral and legal responsibility to protect civilians. As for the so-called fact-finding committees, they have been nothing but an attempt to shift blame, blur the truth, and prolong impunity.

From our sense of moral and humanitarian responsibility, and from our deeply held belief that protecting women and defending their dignity and right to life is a collective duty, we announce today the launch of a women’s campaign under the slogan:

“Together to Support the Women of Suwayda in the Face of Genocide”

This campaign aims to raise women’s voices against these crimes, create joint spaces between women in North and East Syria and the women of Suwayda to build effective solidarity, document violations, and turn them into tools for international accountability. It also aims to raise community awareness about the seriousness of what is happening and to expose the policies that turn women into silent victims.

Campaign Demands:

Immediate ceasefire and an end to all forms of violence against civilians without delay.

Opening of safe humanitarian corridors for civilians, especially women and children, to leave conflict areas without threat or fear.

Release of kidnapped and detained women, and an end to all forms of torture and enforced disappearance.

Immediate and urgent delivery of humanitarian aid—food, water, and medicine—to besieged and affected areas, ensuring aid is not blocked or politicized.

Safe and continuous opening of the road between Damascus and Suwayda as a humanitarian necessity to ensure aid delivery and save lives.

Immediate response from the transitional government and official approval to receive humanitarian aid sent by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, as a purely humanitarian initiative beyond political agendas.

Providing effective international protection to prevent repeated crimes and to create a safe and stable environment for women and civilians.

Preventing the forced displacement of Suwayda residents and ensuring their right to remain safely and with dignity in their homes and areas.

Formation of an independent international investigation committee to document the crimes committed and hold perpetrators accountable, without politicization or bias.

Campaign Program: “Together to Support the Women of Suwayda in the Face of Genocide”

Duration: Seven days – from July 30 to August 5, 2025

Wednesday, July 30 – Campaign Launch

Official announcement of the campaign from Qamishlo, through a public reading of the solidarity statement in three languages: Arabic, Kurdish, and Syriac.

Participation of representatives from women’s movements, organizations, councils, and unions in North and East Syria.

Thursday, July 31

Sending emails to international human rights, humanitarian, and women’s organizations, including the campaign statement and its urgent demands.

Calling on these bodies to take immediate action to protect women and prevent the continuation of crimes.

Friday, August 1

Launching an online campaign using a unified hashtag reflecting the campaign’s title.

Wide participation across social media to break the silence and encourage international media to cover the violations.

Saturday, August 2

A media platform hosted by a TV channel to give space for women and activists to speak about the crimes in Suwayda and to send messages of solidarity from the women of North and East Syria to their sisters in Suwayda.

Sunday, August 3

In a painful symbolic intersection with the anniversary of the Shengal massacre (August 3, 2014), which targeted Ezidi women, and the ongoing killings of women in Suwayda, the campaign will organize simultaneous protest stands in Hasakah, Raqqa, and Aleppo, with the participation of women’s organizations and community figures.
