On 8 March 2026, we pay tribute to all the women around the world who are fighting against patriarchy, oppression and exploitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In particular, we remember \u015eeh\u00eed Deniz \u00c7iya and \u015eeh\u00eed S\u00eedar, the courageous women who lost their lives fighting for freedom and dignity. Their courage and resistance continue to inspire the ongoing struggle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In this spirit, we commemorate International Women’s Day in solidarity with women in Kurdistan and around the world who are standing up to patriarchy, war, violence, colonialism, capitalism, nationalism and inhumanity. Their struggle is our struggle too, and it is more important than ever today, given the increasing global attacks on women’s existence and rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Thanks to the courage, determination and self-sacrifice of women, the Rojava Revolution continues to this day. They have taken on responsibility and played a leading role in all areas, including the military, the economy, local government, health and education. However, these achievements have been under targeted attack since the beginning of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Attacks on women have been particularly devastating: thousands of women fleeing Afrin were subjected to inhumane conditions. In \u015e\u00eax Meqs\u00fbd and E\u015frefiy\u00ea, female comrades were deliberately attacked and their bodies treated with disrespect. Freedom fighters defending themselves against ISIS were cowardly attacked and had their braids cut off. These acts are not a coincidence, but an expression of a patriarchal system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, the whole world should know that the women of Rojava will never forget these crimes and will continue the struggle in the spirit of the \u015e\u00eax Meqs\u00fbd fighters. Even today, the so-called transitional government led by HTS is trying to exclude women from political, social, and military decision-making structures. Women’s will is being disregarded, which makes us all the more determined to resist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The achievements of the last 14 years were hard-won \u2013 and we will not easily give them up. Just as we did not bow to the Baath regime, Turkish fascism or IS, so too will we not bow today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We will continue to fight until the achievements of women in Rojava are secured. As Kongra Star and women from Rojava, we will continue our work with this spirit and determination, defending the achievements of women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In this spirit, we are celebrating International Women’s Day this year with the slogan ‘Jin Jiyan Azadi’: with this, we will defend the achievements of the women’s revolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
