To the female activists and fighters,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I, Sousan Shouman, from wounded Lebanon, declare my solidarity with the struggle of the women fighters in the Women\u2019s Protection Units (YPJ), who have made great sacrifices in confronting terrorism and defending human dignity and the freedom of societies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These units have demonstrated, through their experience, that defending land and freedom is not limited to one gender, but is a shared right and responsibility. Any attempt to exclude women from this role, or to deny their right to participate within official institutions, constitutes a serious setback from the principles of justice and equality for which the peoples of the region have struggled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I express my full support for the right of women to engage in all areas of life, including defense, and I affirm that recognizing the role of the Women\u2019s Protection Units is a recognition of women\u2019s struggle against violence and extremism, and of their right to determine their own destiny.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I call on all feminist, human rights, and academic organizations, as well as free individuals, to stand by this just cause and to raise their voices to ensure the full and equal participation of women in all institutions of society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Full solidarity with the women of the Women\u2019s Protection Units,
and long live the struggle of women for freedom and dignity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
