Women are life, and targeting them is targeting all of humanity

Kongra Star statement against execution in Iran

We are facing a historic moment. A moment that demands that we all be a voice in the face of the machinery of oppression and execution that the mullahs’ regime continues to use to silence every voice calling for freedom. The imminent execution of feminist activist Varisha Moradi in the coming days is a wake-up call for us all. This unjust sentence, which completes the series of tyranny, is an expression of a reactionary mentality that adheres to a policy of extermination and revenge against women who dare to stand up against tyranny.

Varisha Moradi, Pekhshan Azizi, Sharifa Mohammadi and other activists are symbols of women’s struggle for dignity and freedom in the face of a regime that sees women only as a threat to its existence. A regime that uses the death penalty as a means to eradicate the voices that cry “women, life, freedom”, a cry that became a worldwide cry that crossed the borders of Kurdistan and Iran, embodying the aspirations of women and oppressed peoples in the face of tyranny and slavery.

We call on all women’s and revolutionary movements, democratic organizations and forces in the world to rise up to stop this heinous crime. The silence of the international community and the inaction of human rights organizations is tacit complicity in these crimes. We call on everyone to take a clear and decisive stand, to step up the fight against this reactionary regime and to raise the voice of women who will not be shackled by death sentences or silenced by bars.

We also send a clear message to the relevant institutions and authorities, especially the United Nations, human rights organizations and the International Criminal Court, to break their suspicious silence and do their duty. It is their moral and legal responsibility to take immediate action to stop the execution of these unjust sentences and to monitor the systematic violations against women in Iran. Failure to take serious and decisive steps will only mean accepting the continuation of the machinery of oppression and will be a betrayal of all the humanitarian values sung by these institutions.

The Iranian regime is trying to kill women’s hope and extinguish the flame of resistance with its unjust judgments and repressive measures. But we say to them: These judgments will not be the end of history, but the beginning of a new phase of resistance, a phase in which the voice of freedom will rise above all the voices of tyranny. Varisha Moradis is not alone; she is the voice of every woman fighting for a more just and humane world.

Let us stand together to prevent the implementation of this unjust verdict, and turn this moment into a global uprising against injustice. Women are life, and targeting them is targeting all of humanity. We will not allow darkness to win, because we believe that freedom will always rise from the cries of resilient women.

Yes to free life, no to execution!

Women, Life, Freedom!

Jin, Jiyan, Azadî!
