Overview: Agreements and Ceasefires in Syriafrom March 2025 to January 2026

In Syria later 2024 early 2025, as the Assad regime was falling, there was a period of instability and
conflict, primarily with HTS, the now Syrian Transitional Government (STG). Turkey also seized the
opportunity of temporary chaos and, alongside it’s militia, the Syrian National Army, launched various
offensives of DAANES areas. Months of fighting happened, which stalled at the Tishrin Dam, with the
SDF and the people of DAANES making a successful resistance.
On the 10th March, the SDF, represented by Mazloum Abdi and the Syrian Transitional Government
president Ahmed Al-Sharra, signed the March 10th agreement, which implemented a country wide
ceasefire and laid out the broad framework and principles of integration between DAANES and the new
Syrian Government.
