HPJ declares its support: Stand by the YPJ

The Women’s Protection Forces of Eastern Kurdistan (HPJ) have declared their support for the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) and called on all freedom-lovers to stand by the YPJ.

The ‘We are all YPJ’ campaign, launched on 26th April by the Joint Platform of Women’s Movements and Organisations in Rojava, to support the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), is receiving strong backing across Kurdistan and the world. The Command of the Eastern Kurdistan Women’s Protection Forces (HPJ) also issued a statement in support of the campaign. The HPJ statement reads as follows:

“The YPJ has become an unparalleled symbol, not only for the peoples of Syria and the Kurds, but for all freedom-lovers. The Syrian interim government’s failure to officially recognise the YPJ is, in fact, a rejection of democracy and freedom itself. The Women’s Protection Units, which are the core of the struggle against ISIS and a symbol of women’s freedom and struggle, have always taken their place at the forefront of democracy and equality in Syria.

By denying the existence of the YPJ, all revolutionary progress of North and East Syria are endangered and lose their essence. For this reason, we declare our support for YPJ as a symbol of freedom and the true defender of the peoples’ revolution in Syria. We will stand by the Women’s Protection Units with all our might and say that we too are the YPJ. In this important process, we call upon freedom-lovers and all those who see themselves as part of the struggle for an equal and democratic world to stand with the Women’s Protection Units. This is not just a regional problem, it will affect the future of the Middle East and the entire world.
